Hi White Center, I read in the Seattle Weekly that the city of Seattle is trying to annex you. Although we’d love to have you join our city, now’s not such a good time to do so. You see, Seattle’s neighborhoods aren’t being treated very well by the city right now. The neighborhood plans these neighborhoods created with the city are now largely being ignored, the mayor and the city council are fighting over everything from parks to nightclub ordinances, and the money needed to make traffic and pedestrian improvements in neighborhoods is going to fund the city’s downtown pet projects.

So…you really might want to hold them off for a few years until they get their house in order. Otherwise, you’ll go from a neighborhood that at least has some control over its future to one of many Seattle neighborhoods fighting for an ever shriking pool of resources.
