Lots of thought went into these townhomes.

This is so nice, I wish I was walking here now.  Ravenna townhomes at the corner of NE 65th St and 25th Ave NE.

Nice parking area.

And interesting use of fencing and landscaping.

The only downfall is the lack of fully fenced backyards in these, althought I don’t remember if all of them are that way. Some of the floorplans lack space on the upper levels too.

Do you mean fully fenced backyards for each townhome? So that in photo 3 they would each be fenced off?

The sad part about this development is it was once a nursery where we spent a great deal of time buying plants for our (then) new house and garden.

I agree it could have been much, much worse.

Thanks for publishing examples of good and bad townhome projects. It will be a big help as some of us battle developers in front of City Council to get a better design review process and land use/zoning rules. If we can show the difference between good and bad, we can start coming up with proposals and ideas to shape the code to encourage good and discourage bad.

Your latest ones show how fencing can make a huge difference, which should be easily handled by a strengthened design review process.

You should visit my neighborhood! Block after block of carefully thought-out development. Not all townhomes, but a significant portion is. I live in High Point in West Seattle.

These are nice - thanks for posting them… I wish all builders paid attention to this much detail!

Yah that’s what I meant. They aren’t completely fenced off so those with animals can’t really make them work.

one of the better designed townhomes. but for every good one you can find 10 really bad designs.
