Seattle Metropolitan article, “Maintain Mayberry (or) Bring on the Condos”
Check out the March issue of Metropolitan magazine, there’s a really good article on the fight between neighborhood character and maximum density. And, I’m actually quoted a few times in this article, with my favorite quote from myself
being:
Right now, the issues of scale, height, bulk and design are being fought on a case-by-case basis rather than with the help of the city or planners.
Wow, I gave this quote back in the fall, and it’s still so true! Anyway, I highly recommend you read it because it really hits on the core of what it is about land use and development that is so frustrating to so many people in Seattle.
(You’ll have to pick up the magazine (p56) since this article isn’t posted online).
Oh yeah, I think the ‘Mayberry’ line came from Sally Clark who used it to describe Wedgwood a couple days after she had toured it with me and a couple other folks last May.
